About Us
Just a little history about Disco Sistas.... Jeannette Richardson and Tracey Rhodes (better known as “Disco Sistas”) were one of the original skaters from Rosedale, Painters Mills, Shake and Bake & Orchard skating rinks just to name a few. Like most, we started skating back as early as the 1980’s where we began line dancing on roller skates. Skating in the center of the rink was our favorite performing various skating steps and moves on the skate floor.
In 2004, we started line dancing with Randy Denise at Sistas Night Club (Formerly Nick’s) in Randallstown Maryland. Excited about line dancing, we joined LDC for a short period as we learned various line dances and travelled across the states to perform and attend Line Dancing events.
Disco Sistas was formed in 2005 from their first line dance call Disco Sistas, song by: 50 Cent Disco Inferno and Sista Sprung, song by: LL Cool J’s Head Sprung which was debuted at the Baltimore Philly Workshop. We were inspired to create more line dances therefore in 2006, we created dances called Friends Trippin & K2K. K2K, (was inspired by our Mascot Kaitlynn Rhodes who was 7 years old at that time), was debuted at the FTB Dance Summit in Philly. In 2012, Disco Sistas Family Reunion was created and more to come(Video of DS Family Reunion is on the Video/Photos page of website). Click this link to view video. Also in 2012, Disco Sistas did a performance with Chris Page and the UC Star Skaters at the UC Star Awards Event in January. (Click Here to view performances) From there, we have had our monthly Disco Sistas 2nd Sunday Line Dance Social every 2nd Sunday of the month as we continue on until today.
Disco Sistas became Disco Sistas & Company and now includes:
Through out the years of line dancing, we discovered that a large amount of the Skating Communities moved to Line Dancing and/or Partner Dancing. This is where we wanted to bring all three (3) communities back together BRIDGING THAT GAP...... |
